Colors for Babies' Rooms

When you have a baby, you want the best for him. He has to have the best of everything and the most attention. He also has to have a great looking room. Let's look at some colors that are great in baby rooms.

Blue and pink are the classic baby colors for boys and girls. They are the first thing that you think about when you hear that you are having a boy or a girl. You immediately think of pink dresses or cute little blue ties. Painting your baby's room pink or blue isn't a bad thing, but if you are thinking about a color that will last for ten or more years, you might want to make sure a not too baby color is selected. But pink and blue are definitely the top choice for baby rooms.

Soft pastels are also a great choice. They resemble the softness of the baby and how precious he is. Use colors like blue and green for a boy and pink and purple for a girl. You can also to a light yellow for a general baby room. That way you have a neutral for both a boy and a girl and it still looks precious.

Bright bold colors usually aren't very good for a baby room. They do help to stimulate the baby's senses but they are usually asleep when they are in their room anyways. Save the bold colors for paintings or toys in the room. Bold colors are great for pictures because they are what the child will mainly be focusing on, but when an adult looks at the room, they see the whole thing, and the paint you used behind the pictures.

Use a black and white picture with lots of shapes as a picture near your baby's crib. It helps to again stimulate the eyes and it a cute piece of art. If you can't find anything like it, paint something yourself. It just needs to be a bunch of different shapes that are in black and white. Later on you can paint another one with color.

Spend time picking out the colors. Buy samples that you can paint on the wall and look at for a few days. Remember, different light makes paint look different. Florescent lights makes paint look a lot different than incandescent lights. Try out both light bulbs to see how the color looks before you actually buy the huge buckets of paint. It will save you tons of time and money to see what it looks like before.

Choosing the colors for your baby's room is important. You want everything to be perfect. Remember, with any of these colors above, you will probably have to repaint when they get older. If you don't want that, then try to make some modifications to the paint colors. Choose a light but bolder pink that just pastel pink for your baby. You don't want to have to paint in 10 years again, but it is better to do that if you can't find a color you think would work for both. Take your time and have fun picking out a color for your baby's room.
