Decorating Ideas for Your Not-So Frilly Daughter
Are you looking for decorating ideas for your little tom-boy, but all you are finding is frilly pink girly stuff? Don't worry if your little girl isn't a fan of pink and flowers and butterflies. There are plenty of great ideas for your tom-boy's room. Here are some great decorating ideas for a tom-boy girl's room.
Most times little girls' bedrooms are decorated with lots of pink, flowers, princesses and all kinds of girly things. Those rooms are cute and can be great for girls who like that kind of stuff. If your little girl is interested in other things rather than with dolls, there are also great ideas that you can do for her room. Her room doesn't have to look like a boy's room, but it also doesn't have to be smothered with pink. Follow these guidelines and your little tom-boy will be thrilled with her new room.
Bedding
Dress the bed with bedding that doesn't have flowers or too much pink on it. Try and keep the bedding basic and avoid using lace and other girly things. Try using browns and light baby blues. A brown and pink comforter can also look really nice, but not too feminine. Also think about using bold shapes on the bed to take away from that little girly girl look.
Paint
Painting can and will change any room. There are so many options with painting. Add more character and dimension to your tom-boy's room by painting with stripes. You can decide whether you want small or really wide stripes. Multiple complimentary colors will look nice on the wall. Browns and pinks together, or yellows and greens are always fun for a room. Light blues and reds can also look really good in a little girl's room.
Another fun look could be doing psychedelic swirls on the wall. This is easily done by combining a dark paint color over a base coat of light color. After the base coat dries, you can use a squeegee or a cloth to swirl the lighter color over the top. This is a really fun design to incorporate in your tom-boy's room. .
Accessories
Decorate using less floral. Instead of using lamp shades or frames that are floral print, use more solid colors. Always add accessories that your little girl likes. If she likes horses, sports or acting, then add some of those things in her room. Stay away from dolls and princesses and stick to what she likes! If needed, just add small amounts of pink or a ribbon here or there if you want it to look a little more girlish. Just remember to focus on the things she likes and less on traditional flowers, pinks, bows and dollies.
Just because you have a little girl, doesn't mean you have to decorate her room with all the frills and bows. If your girl is a tom-boy, then focus on what she likes to create a room that she will love. Follow these decorating ideas for a tom-boy girl's room to help inspire you to do something different with her room. Decorating your daughter's room can be fun and exciting, especially when you try new things and create something you haven't seen in a girl's room before. Have fun with decorating and try and personalize the room to fit the girl that your daughter is.
