Educational Decorating Ideas for Boys' Rooms
Decorating your boy's room does not always have to be just about style, it can also provide fun educational tools. You can use decor as a means for providing education in a fun manner. The following are some great decorating ideas that combine educational elements and style for a unique stylish boy's bedroom.
Idea one: as you pick out your decor choose things that offer an educational element. For example, instead of just any throw rug, purchase a throw rug that has the planetary system with the names listed on. This way, your son will not only have a rug on his floor, but also, the ability to learn the planets by repetitively seeing them on display. You can add to this astronaut or space theme by using pictures taken by NASA as your wall art. After you purchase this wall art teach your boy about it and what it means. Then by hanging these photographs on the wall, they will act as a constant reminder of the advances in science and space that we've taken as a human race. You can purchase the telescope that will not only enhance the style and theme of the room, but also be able to be used for stargazing.
Idea two: choose something your child is interested in and help them learn about it as you decorate their room with that interest as the theme. For example, if your child loves animals, you can choose a safari theme. As you decorate the room using different animal prints, Safari photos, stuffed animals, etc, you can teach your child fun facts about the animals you use. For example, you can talk to them about how fast a cheetah runs, or about what zebras eat. You can even post little facts on the walls near the photos, or stuffed animals of their choice. For example, if they love rhinoceroses then have a photo with a rhinoceros, and then next to it have a simple fact sheet about their lifespan, diets, habits, etc.
Idea three: create a classroom setting. Even from a young age your child can benefit by having educational tools in their bedroom. For example, you can decorate their walls with the alphabet and include cute pictures of things that start with each letter. You can have a multiplications chart framed in on the wall is your wall art. You can include a desk as part of your furniture in the room. Include a bookshelf full of educational books. This is not to look tacky or silly. In fact, often times and alphabet is not only very stylish, but also helps your child memorize their letters faster. Because you are decorating a boy's room you can focus on items that commonly represent boys, for example, for the letter "C" instead of using cats, use cars. For the letter "D" use dinosaurs as opposed to dolls or something else that is girly. This is a great way to have their room encompass all of their favorite things and keep it all under one theme.
There are many ways to take your child's favorite beans and use them in an educational manner as you decorate their room. You can use vinyl lettering to post facts on the wall. For example, if you are creating a dinosaur themed room use vinyl lettering to state when dinosaurs first existed on the earth, the names of the dinosaurs you put on the walls, the prehistoric era in which the dinosaurs lived etc. as you decorate look for opportunities to add education to the room.
