Really Great Themes for Decorating Your Toddler's Room
Toddler and preschool aged children are probably the most energetic yet stubborn kids out there today. For parents they are a bundle of joy, energy, and tantrum throwing all wrapped up into one little box. When it comes to decorating a room for a toddler there are several different things you can do. Themed rooms for toddlers can range from outer space to cowboys and Indians. It will largely depend on how much you want to do, and the personality of your toddler. Here are some things to remember and ideas for creating a toddler themed bedroom.
Keep things simple
While you might want to go out and buy every cute little knick knack that matches the theme of your toddlers room, remember that the simpler the better. Toddlers won't appreciate expensive pieces of artwork, or look at the kind of window treatments you put in their bedroom. When a toddler walks into their room they want to feel comfort and familiarity; something that speaks to them. So whatever you decide to do, try and keep it simple and organized.
Think about the furniture
When you're decorating a toddler bedroom you want to keep in mind what kind of furniture you're get. The first thing to think about is the size of the furniture, and the second thing is to try and match it with your theme and colors. For example, instead of buying a twin bed right away which can be very intimidating to a small toddler try looking for a toddler size bed that will match the theme of the room. The same goes for any type of dresser, nightstand, or other furnishings you use.
Coordinate your colors
Naturally it's always a good idea to find colors that will coordinate with one another. You can either add color to the walls or keep them neutral and then add color through accessories, window treatments, etc. Color schemes can make or break a room so look for ideas in magazines, books, paint supply stores, or online.
